Day 17 - January 17, 2010

"Wait for us!!" My frozen children playing alongside a frozen Lake Michigan.

Day 16 - January 16, 2010

A juvenile Ring-billed Gull (or possibly a juvenile Herring Gull) hanging out by the lagoon on the campus of Northwestern University.

Day 15 - January 15, 2010

A male Hooded Merganser swimming in the lagoon of Northwestern University.

Day 14 - January 14, 2010

Al Gore needs to give up his phoney global warming nonsense. He needs to come to Chicago and see our beloved Lake Michigan...which is currently frozen over.

Day 13 - January 13, 2010

Wow, this very dead bird (I think a goose) was scattered over a wide area. It was pretty gross.

Day 12 - January 12, 2010

An unfortunate fish that didn't make it through the harsh Chicago winter.

Day 11 - January 11, 2010

The birds are back! Well, truth be told the sea gulls never left. They are hardy creatures that seem to thrive even though it's really cold outside. I have no idea what they eat in this frozen wasteland.

Day 10 - January 10, 2010

The tell-tale snot trail on his upper lip is the only sign that it's a cold day.

Day 9 - January 9, 2010

For whatever reason my son isn't concerned about the winter weather. This is a good thing considering we live in an area that gets fairly cold. This photo was taken after a Cub Scouts activity.

Day 7 - January 7, 2010

Another bad photo. My kids were facing me, about to slide down the hood of our car, and then once I raised the camera they turned around. We were late for school so I didn't have time to wait for them to become cute again.

Day 6 - January 6, 2010

I'm not really happy with this picture, but I'm hoping that learning about black and white photography will help me when I have a better subject.

Day 5 - January 5, 2010

My daughter running around in our church's gym. I tried the technique of following her with the camera so that she would be sharp but the background would be blurred, but I think I could have done a better job.

Day 4 - January 4, 2010

As you all know Al Gore has proven beyond any debate that global warming is upon us and we'll all be dead in 10 years unless we funnel most of our money to him. As proof I offer the following icicles on one of our flower boxes.

Day 3 - January 3, 2010

A natural daylight photo of my daughter. It was a quick photo so there was no setup at all.

Day 2 - January 2, 2010

I was responsible for the kids the other day and, of course, they were hungry. Hmmm...what to make them for breakfast? They wanted pancakes, but we already had some waffles in the freezer. Woohoo! It was an easy breakfast for daddy.

Ok, it's a nasty picture...but it works for me.

Day 1 - January 1, 2010

Well, in my mind's eye I had imagined a better start to my 365 project, but before I had a chance to set up my camera to take my first photo my son had accidentally given himself a major wedgie by getting his pajamas hooked onto my exercise bike. The more he tried to wiggle free the deeper the wedgie would go. The poor kid was almost split in half.

By the way, this was in my basement. I wanted you to know that lest you think I have all that clutter in my living room.
